A MID CENTURY HOME, CAREFULLY PRESERVED

Nestled on a quiet street in Rungsted, this beautifully preserved mid-century residence was originally designed in 1961 by the renowned Danish architects Jørgen Bo and Vilhelm Wohlert, best known for their work on the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk. Their architectural language is unmistakably present here, in a home that has stood the test of time with elegance and integrity.

REFINED TIMELESSNESS

Recently updated by its new owners, the home has been sensitively modernised with great respect for its original design. Every detail feels intentional: from the original oak floors and mahogany doors to the brick walls and pine ceilings. Custom lighting by Vilhelm Wohlert and the iconic open fireplace, still intact and in use, continue to anchor the heart of the home, especially in the colder months.
At the centre of this careful restoration stands a Vermland kitchen, crafted to complement the home’s original architecture while bringing in new functionality.

BLENDING TRADITION AND CONTEMPORARY DESIGN IN THE HEART OF THE HOME

“We were looking for a handcrafted kitchen made from natural materials,” the owners explain. “Something that would blend in with the original wood interiors and honor the lines of the house. We fell in love with Vermland’s design because it feels like a piece of furniture – elevated and timeless.”
The kitchen is crafted from natural oak, with floating details that add lightness and warmth. Stainless steel countertops and appliances, including Gaggenau ovens and a wine fridge, introduce a subtle, modern contrast, highlighting the thoughtful mix of materials.
This space reflects a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, functionality, and design that endures. A kitchen that belongs to its time while remaining rooted in tradition.

A SENSE OF PLACE

The property forms part of a thoughtfully designed neighborhood, surrounded by communal green spaces and a private park dotted with red and green apple trees. Residents enjoy access to a year-round tennis court, as well as a private beach with a bathing jetty – the perfect extension of life in balance with nature.
