Notting HilL

NOTTING HILL, LONDON

Located within one of London’s most prestigious neighborhoods, this apartment reflects the understated elegance that defines Notting Hill. Surrounded by grand Victorian terraces and historic architecture, the home sits comfortably within its distinguished setting. The interior has been carefully designed to honor the building’s heritage while introducing a calm, contemporary atmosphere inspired by Scandinavian design.

The house is home to Danish architect and ceramic artist Marie Louise Munch and her English husband, also an architect. Their shared appreciation for craftsmanship, materiality and thoughtful design is evident throughout the home, where Danish furniture, carefully collected vintage pieces, artworks and handmade objects create a layered interior rich in warmth and personality.

HERITAGE IN HARMONY

The project brings together the warmth and character of traditional English interiors with the refined simplicity of Nordic design. Soft, natural tones, tactile materials and carefully balanced proportions create an interior that feels timeless rather than trend-led. Respecting the apartment’s original character while introducing handcrafted details and natural materials, the design establishes a seamless connection between English architectural heritage and Scandinavian craftsmanship.

KITCHEN IN FUMED OAK

The bespoke kitchen is crafted from fumed oak, chosen for its rich, smoky tones and beautifully expressive grain. The fuming process enhances the natural depth of the timber, allowing every cabinet and drawer front to develop a distinctive character that will continue to mature gracefully over time. Paired with a Taj Mahal quartzite worktop, the kitchen achieves a refined balance between warmth and elegance. Carefully integrated storage, generous work surfaces and understated detailing create a highly functional space where craftsmanship and everyday practicality go hand in hand. Every element has been designed to celebrate honest materials, timeless joinery and a quiet sense of luxury.

Designed with longevity in mind, the apartment balances beauty with functionality. Every detail contributes to a calm and welcoming environment where natural materials are allowed to age gracefully and exceptional craftsmanship remains at the forefront. The result is a home that captures the enduring charm of Notting Hill while expressing the quiet confidence of contemporary Scandinavian design.
