COMPACT ELEGANCE IN COPENHAGEN

In the heart of Copenhagen, a small apartment showcases how compact living can be elevated through thoughtful design and high aesthetics. This kitchen, a collaboration between Vermland and Lumière Bricoleur, exemplifies a warm minimalistic approach with a distinct Japanese feel.

HARMONIOUS MATERIALS

The centerpiece of the kitchen is a Jura Beige marble counter, its subtle veining adding depth and character to the space. Complementing this elegant surface are Japanese-inspired tiles from Marokk, which bring texture and visual interest to the walls. The interplay between these materials creates a serene yet sophisticated atmosphere, perfect for the compact urban setting.

FUNCTIONAL DESIGN

Despite its small footprint, the kitchen maximizes functionality through clever design choices. A kitchen niche provides additional storage and workspace, while a kitchen island in Vermland’s Volume 2 design serves as both a preparation area and a casual dining spot. Stainless steel details punctuate the space, their cool tones balancing the warmth of the marble and tiles. A black faucet adds a contemporary touch, its sleek silhouette in harmony with the overall aesthetic.

JAPANESE INFLUENCE

The kitchen’s design philosophy draws heavily from the Japandi style, a fusion of Japanese and Scandinavian aesthetics. This is evident in the clean lines, natural materials, and muted color palette. The warm minimalistic approach creates a space that feels both cozy and uncluttered, essential for comfortable small-space living in a Copenhagen apartment.Captured through the lens of photographer Jesper Drejer Rundt, this collaboration between Vermland and Lumière Bricoleur demonstrates that even in compact spaces, it’s possible to create a kitchen that is both highly functional and aesthetically pleasing. The project showcases how thoughtful design can transform limited space into a culinary haven that embodies the best of Danish and Japanese design principles.
